Desa Amfibi is a unique residence located in North Jakarta, Indonesia, which is designed to fulfill human needs and desires towards a comfortable and safe home environment. We want to create a home which is suitable for all the year round in flood affected area and have the abilities of the standard to withstand natural phenomenons such as flooding and earthquakes problems in Indonesia with mainly local resources made up of different decent quality constructional materials for economic viability and sustainability.
The residential project is also meant to be a modern village infused with the spirit and togetherness of the local community that improves the quality of the livelihood of the people and the future generation. Research and study about a "Middle class" family were considered as the main aspects of this project's design direction. The target audience of this project with be a family of 4 members, consisting of a father, mother and two children.
The project idea on creating and designing a floating home was inspired by providing a tangible solution to environmental and social problems that we faced nowadays and in the future such as flooding due to global warming, crowded cities and unaffordable housing, with the aesthetic and concept developed from investigating and exploring the cultural habits and demographics of the living habitats in the surrounding areas. The project also incorporates sustainable technology to enable a self-sufficient low cost floating house that is not a houseboat, but an actual house that is designed to float when the water level rises.
